ABOUT ME
Art Teacher
Candace Jahn is a New Jersey native who after receiving her BA in Art and Education with a concentration in Photography from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey made her way west to Portland where she received her MFA in Visual Studies from Pacific Northwest College of Art.
Candace teaches art in Portland Public Schools while maintaining an active studio practice. She has shown work in galleries across town and the country. She spends her summers working with students at an art-focused day camp that explores mediums such as: stop motion animation, photography and printmaking. Within her own teaching philosophies she offers tools to engage students with multiple approaches to learning by exploring cultural identity through engagement, student-centered learning and explorative pedagogy.
Outside the classroom and studio, Candace enjoys book clubs, second run movies, a good slice of pizza and time spent exploring new places.
